it's pretty close to my favorite day/s of the year. today we will be setting up for the handmade austin women show. for the life of me i couldn't sleep last nite...i am so excited. this is my all time favorite show of the year. honestly, i feel sentimental about all the shows i do, for one reason or another but this show i am completly invested in (both emotionally and spiritually)and i love it. i love that for 3 days straight i am submerged in an environment with amazing & talented women all focusing and sharing a common passion and knowledge for what we love: making.

hope to see you there
these tightly woven black seed beads resemble those gummi blackberry and raspberry candies, especially the upper left image.
these little lemon lime beads are my favorite of all the bead colors i bought to experiment with. they appear to be bright yellow in the bag. i first stitched this pair with a bright red orange thread and the beads then appeared gold, they were okay but i didn't love them....so i then ripped out the thread and stitched them with an aqua color and the beads now appear to be a soft sort of electric yellow with a hint of green. love them!! the matte surface on the beads makes them feel like sprinkles on a cake.
more to come in the grow. paddle line.....
come see the new collection at the handmade austin women show this weekend.
i found a new great foodie blog called seven spoons. this yummy cake is made of fruit, whipped cream and graham crackers which made me immediatly think of a dessert my grandma fisher makes with pudding and graham crackers that i so love. yum!!!

my friend melanie and i have been laughing about using the term hawesome for haw (handmade austin women)!!! haha!! melanie is one of the other main coordinators for the show....hawesome....cheesy, yes!! but we just can't help it. with all the long hours of planning the event i think we have the right to coin "hawesome" in the midst of our deliriousness. planning a show (even at this small scale) is an immeasarable amount of work and at times feels like a full time job. having said that, i love being part of this show in every facet. i love everything about it from the artists, to the details, to nerdin out on my computer organizing the logistics. AND, after all the planning it's about that time to just enjoy.
the handmade austin women show is saturday and sunday, 11am - 6pm on may 1 & 2 at ginko studios in east austin. 800 gullett street, austin, tx 78720
come out and enjoy the show.

new . sweet . simple
paddle earring with blue "colony" detail.
the new conjoined paddle earrings have tiny sewn seed beads growing out of the metal cross sections. pictured here is a newly finished pair in plum. the beads remind me of little colonies of algea, bacteria or sea anenome that flourish and grow on a host....
